Data Analyst

YipitData (Alternative) seeks a full-time Data Analyst to support remote-based research operations across the United States. You'll join one of our specialized sector teams, working with alternative data and proprietary analytical frameworks to generate market intelligence for institutional investors and enterprise clients navigating competitive landscapes.

What This Role Involves

This position focuses on the research and analysis that powers our sector teams. You'll join practitioners working in industries such as consumer goods, enterprise software, and financial services—where deep data expertise informs high-impact investment decisions. Your day-to-day centers on building, refining, and operating analytical products that track company performance, industry trends, and competitive positioning using our proprietary data sources and methodologies.

Your Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of assigned analytical products, from initial methodology to final client delivery, with increasing independence as you develop domain expertise
• Process and analyze large-scale datasets to extract answers to client investment theses, building robust mental models of data reliability and analytical soundness
• Navigate ambiguous or incomplete data scenarios through creative problem-solving, iterating on methodologies and testing new data sources to strengthen analysis
• Apply automation and AI-assisted tools to accelerate workflows while maintaining rigorous quality standards and output validation
• Engage across teams with Research, Engineering, and Product groups to unblock dependencies, share best practices, and optimize how analysis is delivered
• Contribute proactive improvements to team processes and products—identifying methodology enhancements, exploring emerging datasets, and suggesting workflow innovations

Qualifications

• Three to five or more years of quantitative analysis experience in financial services, management consulting, data science, or similarly demanding analytical environments
• Advanced SQL competency; experience with Python or PySpark for building reproducible analytical pipelines is highly valued
• Demonstrated ability to rapidly master new analytical frameworks and develop intuition about data systems and methodologies
• Track record of taking initiative on complex analytical challenges, driving solutions without waiting for explicit direction
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly in explaining technical methodology, limitations, and trade-offs to mixed audiences
• Comfort with modern AI tools and genuine interest in leveraging AI to unlock analytical productivity and innovation
