Role Overview
You'll support the development and advocacy of policy positions that shape how electricity is traded and operated across regional transmission organizations. This role combines market analysis, regulatory engagement, and stakeholder collaboration to advance effective wholesale electricity market policy. You'll contribute to discussions around grid reliability, market efficiency, renewable energy integration, and emerging technologies in high-performing MISO and SPP markets.
Responsibilities
- Research and analyze wholesale electricity market issues, competitive dynamics, and regulatory proposals affecting MISO and SPP regions
- Prepare briefing materials, position papers, and testimony supporting organizational policy objectives
- Engage with regulators, grid operators, utilities, and industry stakeholders through meetings, comments on regulatory filings, and public forums
- Monitor policy developments at FERC, state utility commissions, and within independent system operator proceedings
- Support the development of data-driven recommendations on market design, pricing mechanisms, and operational best practices
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure policy consistency and strategic alignment
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in economics, public policy, engineering, business, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
- Strong analytical and research capabilities with attention to detail
- Clear written and verbal communication skills—ability to explain complex market concepts to diverse audiences
- Interest in electricity markets, energy regulation, or grid operations
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across teams and engage with external stakeholders
- Familiarity with MISO or SPP markets, FERC proceedings, or regional energy policy is a plus
