AI Architect

Cyclotron is seeking an AI Architect to design and deploy production AI systems for enterprise clients across the United States. This full-time role combines hands-on technical leadership with client-facing architecture, where you will define AI strategies from discovery through delivery and grow expertise across Microsoft, OpenAI, and Anthropic platforms.

Position Summary

You will architect client AI initiatives from discovery through delivery, working closely with senior architects and engineering teams. You'll lead technical decisions across Azure OpenAI, OpenAI's platform (Responses API, Agents SDK), and Anthropic's Claude ecosystem, balancing hands-on technical depth with client communication. Your work includes running architecture workshops, designing agentic systems and retrieval-augmented generation pipelines, debugging production systems, and building reusable reference implementations across engagements.

Your Responsibilities

• Take ownership of end-to-end technical architecture on client AI engagements, from initial discovery and design through delivery management and knowledge transfer to client teams.
• Represent technical expertise authoritatively with enterprise stakeholders, facilitating architecture workshops and design reviews with clarity and confidence.
• Design agentic systems and retrieval-augmented generation pipelines across Azure, OpenAI, and Anthropic platforms, selecting technology based on strategic fit and client requirements.
• Develop reusable reference architectures, orchestration patterns, prompts, and Model Context Protocol servers that the team leverages across client work.
• Collaborate with senior architects on high-impact technical challenges: design reviews, production troubleshooting, evaluation frameworks, and safety guardrails.
• Bridge strategic business objectives and technical reality through clear documentation, confident presentations, and thoughtful stakeholder communication.

Skills & Qualifications

• Four or more years of enterprise architecture experience in software, data, or AI, with at least one year designing or shipping production generative AI or agentic systems.
• Demonstrated technical leadership on significant multi-stakeholder initiatives as a technical lead, senior engineer, or architect, whether in consulting, professional services, or industry roles.
• Excellent stakeholder communication skills (written and verbal) across technical and management audiences. You can write architecture documents, run design workshops, and present to skeptical engineering leaders.
• Production proficiency with Azure AI services: Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Foundry, AI Search, Document Intelligence, and an orchestration framework such as Semantic Kernel or LangGraph.
• Production proficiency with OpenAI platform: Responses API, Agents SDK, function calling, structured outputs, and evaluation methods.
• Production proficiency with Anthropic platform: Claude API, tool use, Claude Agent SDK, Model Context Protocol, and skills—demonstrated through work you can discuss in detail.
• Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Engineer Associate (or willingness to complete within 90 days of hire); interest in pursuing Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals. You actively read, write, and review code.
• Deep commitment to agentic AI: shipped production or substantive prototype agentic systems, integrate AI coding tools into your workflow (Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar), architected multi-tool solutions with planning and reflection loops, and can discuss orchestration approaches, prompt engineering, evaluation strategies, and cost/performance tradeoffs with authority.
