Role Overview

We're seeking a vigilant and responsive Lifeguard to join our leisure centre in Headington. This part-time role offers flexibility across a range of shift patterns, including early mornings, weekend coverage, and afternoon sessions. You'll work shifts including Monday to Friday from 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM, Saturday from 7:45 AM to 4:15 PM, and Saturday and Sunday afternoons from 12:15 PM to 4:15 PM. Positioned at Barton Leisure Centre, you'll be the frontline guardian of water safety, requiring constant awareness, quick thinking, and the ability to respond decisively in any situation.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain continuous surveillance of designated swimming areas and water zones
• Conduct regular water safety checks and monitor water conditions
• Respond rapidly to emergencies, including rescue and resuscitation procedures
• Enforce pool rules and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
• Provide guidance to swimmers and advise on safe water practice
• Maintain accurate incident and attendance records
• Collaborate with leisure centre staff to deliver an excellent visitor experience

Who We're Looking For

• Current Level 1 or Level 2 Lifeguard Qualification (or equivalent recognised certification)
• Valid First Aid/CPR certification
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Physical fitness and ability to work in a pool environment
• Alert, observant, and professional demeanour at all times
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and early mornings
• Genuine commitment to water safety and community wellbeing
