Senior Mechanical Engineer – Robotics (m/f/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential robotics organization that is scaling rapidly in the industrial automation space. They are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their hardware team in Munich and lead end-to-end mechanical design for advanced robotic systems.

This is a high-impact role where you will establish engineering standards, mentor team members, and translate complex mechanical concepts into production-ready systems. You'll work at the intersection of hardware, motion control, and mechatronics in a fast-paced environment that values pragmatic problem-solving and technical excellence.

Responsibilities

• Lead complete mechanical design cycles from initial concept and calculations through CAD modeling, prototyping, and production delivery
• Establish and refine engineering standards and scalable mechanical design processes for a growing organization
• Mentor engineers in modern mechanical standards, design methodologies, and documentation practices
• Design high-precision mechanisms integrating motion systems, actuators, and electrical/mechatronic components into modular architectures
• Drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT) best practices in collaboration with contract manufacturers and assembly teams
• Optimize BOM costs, sourcing strategies, and engineering change control (ECO) processes
• Execute detailed structural calculations, engineering drawings, and geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T)
• Manage projects end-to-end including planning, budgeting, and timeline management
• Collaborate cross-functionally with electronics, software, and AI engineering teams to validate hardware against operational constraints
• Identify operational bottlenecks and establish dynamic development processes to accelerate time-to-market

What We're Looking For

• Completed vocational training or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Systems Engineering, or comparable experience
• Several years of hands-on experience in full-cycle product development and mechanical engineering across multiple companies
• Deep proficiency in CAD software, preferably SolidWorks, with advanced skills in technical drawing and engineering calculations
• Proven experience designing around motion control systems, actuators, sensors, and electrical/mechatronic hardware integration
• Hands-on DFM/DFT expertise and track record working with contract manufacturers, managing BOM costs, component sourcing, and change control
• Proactive mindset with high ownership mentality and pragmatic working style
• Very good English skills (German is a plus)
• Nice to have: Direct experience in robotics, industrial automation, or kinematic arm design
