Senior Platform Engineer – Kubernetes & GitOps (m/f/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential cloud infrastructure organization based in Köln, Germany. Our talent team is searching for a Senior Platform Engineer with deep expertise in Kubernetes and GitOps to join their growing platform team. This role focuses on building deployment frameworks and automating software delivery on top of modern cloud infrastructure.

You'll work within a collaborative team environment, driving automation, supporting internal teams with platform adoption, and maintaining a high-security, air-gapped cloud environment. Responsibilities

• Build and maintain frameworks for packaging and deploying solutions on cloud platforms
• Drive development of Kubernetes stacks and implement GitOps workflows using tools like FluxCD
• Support and onboard internal engineering teams to the platform
• Conduct system analysis in ambiguous situations and derive actionable improvements
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Ansible and Terraform
• Participate in on-call rotation to ensure platform reliability
• Collaborate across teams to continuously improve automation and deployment processes

What We're Looking For

• Deep knowledge of Linux/Unix system administration and internals
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, particularly OpenStack, including provisioning and management
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and Ansible
• Strong experience with containerization and Kubernetes orchestration
• Proven ability building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with modern observability stacks covering metrics, logs, and traces
• Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, Bash, and Go
• Understanding of security fundamentals including IAM, secrets management, hardening, and compliance
• Knowledge of distributed systems concepts such as CAP theorem, consensus, and fault tolerance
• Strong problem-solving skills with strict documentation discipline
• Ability to thrive in collaborative, product-focused team environments with an ownership mentality
• Excellent communication skills and passion for continuous improvement
• Fluency in English; German language skills are beneficial but not required
