Our talent team at Get A Job.ai is representing a confidential fusion energy organization in their search for a Facilities Architect to lead critical site development at their flagship German location in Biblis. This is a rare opportunity to shape the physical infrastructure that will support breakthrough clean energy technology at commercial scale.

In this role, you will serve as the senior bridge between engineering teams, site stakeholders, German regulatory authorities, utilities providers, and external planning partners. You will translate complex technical requirements into executable facility plans, drive permitting strategy, and maintain strategic relationships with the site owner and infrastructure partners.

Responsibilities

• Define facility development direction by translating technical requirements into phased, executable site, building, and infrastructure plans for the Biblis location
• Lead the interface with the site owner on facility planning, infrastructure constraints, utilities coordination, and long-term site expansion strategy
• Translate engineering needs into facility requirements across specialized systems including lasers, cleanrooms, electrical systems, safety infrastructure, and operations
• Drive German design and permitting strategy by identifying required approvals, regulatory constraints, fire protection requirements, and comprehensive risk assessments
• Coordinate external architects, planners, consultants, and utilities partners to ensure alignment with technical roadmaps and organizational decision needs
• Enable senior leadership decision-making by maintaining clear visibility into facility options, risks, assumptions, dependencies, and cost/schedule implications

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Proven experience leading or shaping complex facility, industrial building, infrastructure, or technical site development projects in Germany
• Working knowledge of German building codes, planning processes, permitting requirements, and compliance frameworks
• Demonstrated ability to translate technical engineering needs into facility, layout, infrastructure, and utility requirements
• Experience managing external architects, planners, consultants, or engineering service providers
• Strong stakeholder interface experience with site owners, authorities, landlords, utilities companies, or senior external partners
• Professional fluency in both German and English

Valued additional experience:

• Background with energy facilities, research installations, cleanroom environments, laboratory infrastructure, or high-tech industrial facilities
• Direct experience working with major German site owners, grid operators, or utilities providers
• Experience with phased campus development or brownfield site transformation
• Knowledge of power infrastructure, backup power systems, grid connection, HVAC, cooling systems, cleanrooms, or specialist utilities
• Professional qualifications in architecture, civil engineering, building services, industrial engineering, or related disciplines
• Experience supporting investment cases, board-level decision papers, or strategic facility roadmaps
