Manager, Loan and Debt Accounting (R14205)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech organization that is seeking a Manager, Loan and Debt Accounting to oversee day-to-day accounting activities related to consumer loan portfolios and debt financing. This remote role will lead critical aspects of the monthly close process, strengthen internal controls, and develop accounting team members while partnering across Finance and Technology to improve operational efficiency.

This is a fully remote position available to candidates anywhere in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting activities for loan portfolios and debt, ensuring accurate and complete recording in accordance with U.S. GAAP and company policies
• Lead the month-end close process for loan and debt-related accounts, including journal entries, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and variance analysis
• Supervise, coach, and develop accounting team members, providing clear priorities, constructive feedback, and ongoing support
• Identify and implement opportunities to strengthen accounting processes and internal controls, reducing manual work and improving data quality
• Leverage technology tools thoughtfully to enhance accounting analysis, documentation, and workflows while maintaining appropriate review and controls
• Collaborate with Finance, Technology, and other teams to implement process improvements, automation solutions, and scalable accounting practices
• Research and apply complex accounting guidance related to lending and debt activities
• Investigate complex accounting issues, identify root causes, and develop practical solutions

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 6+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP with demonstrated ability to research, interpret, and apply accounting guidance
• Experience with loan, lending, debt, or other financial-services-related accounting activities
• Proven experience leading, coaching, and developing accounting professionals and reviewing others' work
• Experience with internal controls and accounting process improvements
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to manage complexity
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines in a dynamic environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to partner effectively across functions
• Willingness to use emerging technologies responsibly to improve accounting processes while maintaining appropriate controls

Preferred Qualifications:

• CPA or progress toward CPA certification
• Experience in consumer lending, financial services, fintech, banking, or related industry
• Experience implementing accounting process improvements, workflow automation, or financial system enhancements
• Familiarity with AI-enabled accounting, finance, or analytics tools in a controlled environment
