Head of AI & Data (m/w/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential facility management organization seeking a Head of AI & Data to drive digital transformation and data-driven decision-making across their operations. In this role, you will:

• Develop and execute the AI and data strategy in collaboration with executive leadership, translating vision into a clear roadmap with concrete initiatives
• Analyze existing processes across business units to identify opportunities for AI, automation, and data-driven optimization
• Evaluate, prioritize, and manage AI and data initiatives based on business value, effort, risk, economic viability, and scalability—from concept through successful implementation
• Own the development and deployment of AI applications, automation solutions, digital tools, and data-driven products, making build-versus-buy decisions with key stakeholders
• Establish data structures, governance frameworks, and standards to ensure secure, responsible, and scalable use of AI and data while maintaining compliance with privacy, security, and regulatory requirements
• Create measurable business cases and KPIs to demonstrate how AI and data solutions contribute to efficiency, quality, productivity, and organizational growth
• Lead and develop the AI & Data team, building internal capabilities and collaborating closely with executive leadership and operational departments

What We're Looking For

Our client seeks a strategic leader who can bridge business needs and technical execution:

• Completed degree in Business Informatics, Computer Science, Data Science, AI, or comparable field—or equivalent practical qualifications
• Several years of experience in AI, data, digitalization, automation, or technology leadership roles
• Proven track record developing and implementing AI/data strategies and concrete use cases
• Experience leading teams and/or large-scale projects, with responsibility for budgets and resources
• Demonstrated success building, launching, and scaling digital, AI, or data solutions in production environments
• Strong understanding of generative AI, LLMs, AI agents, automation technologies, and Python
• Solid knowledge of data governance, data platforms, analytics, and data quality management
• Experience with cloud and AI platforms, ideally in Microsoft ecosystems
• Understanding of the complete AI lifecycle—from ideation through pilot to production operations
• Ability to build business cases, ROI analyses, and economic evaluations of technology investments
• Excellent communication skills: capable of discussing strategy and investment with executives, processes with operational leaders, and architecture with technical specialists
• Change management experience and ability to build AI/data literacy in business units new to these technologies
• Fluent German (C2 level) and good English (B2 level) required
• Experience with enterprise systems and understanding of modern IT environments beneficial
