Embedded Linux Field Engineer for Devices/IoT

Overview

We are representing a confidential client in the open-source software sector, seeking an Embedded Linux Field Engineer for Devices/IoT to expand their footprint in mission-critical industries including Automotive, Medical Devices, Industrial Systems, Robotics, Telco, and Consumer Electronics. This role is fully remote and open to candidates worldwide.

Our client is a globally distributed organization working at the cutting edge of embedded Linux, IoT security, and device management. They serve major brands across consumer and industrial electronics, automotive, and robotics sectors. This position requires a rare combination of deep Linux expertise, customer-facing skills, and the ability to translate technical requirements into business solutions.

Responsibilities

• Engage with prospective customers during the presales process to gather technical requirements and articulate our client's solutions
• Design and elaborate technical proposals for embedded Linux projects targeting IoT and connected device deployments
• Participate in the delivery of select embedded Linux projects, ensuring technical excellence and customer satisfaction
• Act as a bridge between customers and internal stakeholders, conveying market requirements and contributing to product development strategies
• Serve as both a customer advocate and trusted technical advisor throughout the engagement lifecycle
• Travel up to 30% for customer meetings, team gatherings, and industry conferences

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field
• Extensive Linux experience (Debian or Ubuntu distributions preferred)
• Strong distribution and packaging experience (deb, rpm, or similar)
• Solid embedded Linux background using frameworks such as Yocto or Buildroot
• Fluency in at least one of: Golang, Python, C, C++, or Rust
• Deep understanding of low-level Linux boot processes, BIOS, EFI, Secure Boot, and firmware
• Professional written and spoken English, plus local language proficiency where applicable
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
• Results-oriented mindset with proven ability to manage multiple priorities
• Personal commitment to meeting deadlines and delivering quality outcomes
• Humble, eager to learn, and able to rapidly acquire new skills
• Willingness to travel internationally for customer engagements and company events

Preferred qualifications:

• Previous experience in customer-facing technical roles or field engineering
• Experience with OS distribution packaging and embedded software development methodologies
• Understanding of IoT security, device management, and real-time Linux capabilities

Note for Japan and Korea positions: Candidates must be able to speak and write the local language at a professional level in addition to English.
