Engineering Manager

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential open-source technology organization seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a distributed engineering team. Our client is a global leader in enterprise software solutions, and we're looking for an exceptional leader who can combine technical excellence with people development.

This is a remote-first role where you'll guide a team of engineers across various experience levels, from graduate to senior contributors. You'll work within a single major timezone and be responsible for team health, technical direction, and career development.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of engineers, providing coaching, mentoring, and career development feedback
• Work remotely within a single major timezone, occasionally spanning two adjacent zones
• Implement disciplined engineering processes and identify team health indicators
• Represent your team and product to stakeholders, partners, and customers
• Develop and evangelize strong engineering and organizational practices
• Plan and manage progress on agreed goals and projects
• Participate actively in the leadership team, collaborating with other engineering leaders
• Contribute code yourself to set standards, while focusing primarily on team direction and delivery
• Drive collaboration with other teams and customers

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• Exceptional academic track record from high school and university
• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM, or compelling alternative path
• Proven track record of leading, coaching, and mentoring software developers
• Advanced expertise in your technical domain
• Solid experience working in agile development environments
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
• Strong organizational skills with ability to deliver timely, high-quality results
• Professional manner of interacting with colleagues, partners, and community
• Demonstrated drive for continual learning and going above expectations
• Ability to travel twice yearly for company events (up to two weeks each)

Pay

Compensation for this role is determined by our client based on geographical location, experience, and performance. The package includes base pay, performance-driven annual bonus, and comprehensive benefits including a USD 2,000 annual learning and development budget, annual compensation review, recognition rewards, generous holiday leave, parental leave, and travel benefits.
