We are representing a confidential technology company seeking a Staff Data Scientist to join their core platform team. This is a remote-first position available to candidates in Canada, Ireland, and the United States.

Our client operates at the intersection of knowledge sharing and user engagement, with millions of monthly users relying on their platform to connect and learn. The data team plays a central role in shaping product strategy and company direction, working on challenges spanning growth, content optimization, personalization, and marketplace dynamics.

Responsibilities

• Own high-impact, ambiguous problem spaces across product and business domains—from framing questions to implementing solutions with cross-functional teams
• Partner with leadership and stakeholders to shape product strategy and anticipate emerging challenges
• Design, implement, and evaluate experiments measuring the impact of product changes and strategic initiatives
• Analyze platform data to identify root causes of metric movements and user behavior patterns
• Develop methodologies, tools, and frameworks that elevate data literacy across the organization
• Mentor other data scientists and establish best practices that raise team standards
• Work on diverse challenges including modeling long-term growth, improving feed relevance, analyzing engagement drivers, and optimizing marketplace efficiency

What We're Looking For

Required:

• 7+ years of analytical or quantitative work experience, including 5+ years as a Data Scientist or similar role at senior/staff scope
• Proven ability to tackle complex data challenges requiring deep product ownership and cross-functional leadership
• Expertise with statistical techniques (regression, hypothesis testing, causal inference) and their practical application
• Track record of mentoring data scientists and improving team processes
• Strong communication skills—translating business needs into analytical questions and explaining technical findings to non-technical audiences
• Extensive experience with procedural programming languages (Python, R) for data manipulation and modeling; comfort in production codebases
• Judgment that balances quantitative rigor with product intuition
• Availability during coordination hours (Monday-Friday, 9am-3pm Pacific Time)

Preferred:

• 2+ years evaluating recommender systems through offline analysis and online experiments
• Experience setting technical direction or strategy for teams or major initiatives
• Familiarity with distributed computing tools (Presto, Trino) and large-scale datasets
