About This Opportunity

We are representing a dynamic professional services organization in München that has successfully established itself in recent years and is now entering its next phase of structural growth. Our client is seeking a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to build robust operational frameworks and drive strategic execution across all non-client-facing functions.

This is a senior leadership role reporting directly to the Managing Partner, with the mandate to professionalize operational steering, establish scalable processes, and create the infrastructure needed for sustainable growth. You'll work at the intersection of finance, operations, digital transformation, and organizational development in a modern, tech-forward environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead all operational functions including finance & controlling, quality management, risk, resource planning, and process optimization
• Develop and implement management systems using KPIs, forecasts, and reporting to drive business decisions
• Establish reliable project capacity and workforce planning to align resources with client demand
• Create clear governance rhythms, decision-making processes, and accountability frameworks across the organization
• Oversee back-office operations, administration, and facility management
• Guide HR and Marketing functions, supporting department heads in professionalizing their areas
• Partner with the Chief Digital & AI Officer to implement modern, automated processes including requirements definition, standards, rollout, and organizational adoption
• Ensure clear responsibilities, functional interfaces, and process discipline without creating unnecessary bureaucracy
• Translate company objectives into concrete operational decisions in close collaboration with partners

What We're Looking For

• Proven leadership experience from professional services, consulting, audit, or similar partner-led environments
• Track record of building or substantially developing operational functions and management systems—not just administering them
• Strong commercial and financial competency with the ability to lead controlling, reporting, and business management
• Experience scaling organizations professionally and creating structures that function effectively as complexity increases
• Hands-on skills in process design with comfort working with data, systems, and automation
• Ability to work at peer level with confident partners and executives, advocate clear positions, and drive decisions through to implementation
• Leadership style characterized by clarity and pragmatism: high standards for work quality, respectful and reliable in relationships
• Entrepreneurial, independent, solution-oriented approach requiring minimal supervision
• Professional qualifications in tax advisory or audit are not required—operational excellence and the ability to develop a sophisticated professional services organization are what matter
