Account Director, Planning

We are representing a confidential media agency in their search for an experienced Account Director, Planning to lead strategic communications on a portfolio of UK accounts, including a high-profile public sector client.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day strategic output for assigned accounts, owning brief responses and proactively identifying tactical opportunities
• Own account workflow, ensuring integrated teams across creative, media, and data operate seamlessly and at pace
• Serve as key senior client contact, building trust through exceptional service and delivering against commercial goals
• Present work, ideas, and results compellingly to senior clients, agency partners, and internal teams
• Collaborate with senior leadership to explore opportunities for innovation
• Oversee implementation and delivery of all media activation, managing workflow through specialist teams
• Ensure reporting delivers sharp, actionable insights that enable in-flight optimisation beyond post-campaign analysis
• Maintain full oversight of all financial aspects including billings, reconciliations, and finance queries
• Ensure creative and media are integrated, never separate conversations
• Coach, support, and develop direct reports through regular one-to-ones and active mentorship

What We're Looking For

• Fluency in both brand and performance marketing, able to connect creative ideas to measurable outcomes
• Self-starter who demonstrates immense curiosity and inspires teams to test new approaches
• Strong client management skills with gravitas to lead senior-level conversations
• Proven track record delivering integrated communications planning rooted in data and measurement
• Experience championing and challenging teams and clients to push for faster, more effective work
• Account Director-level experience in an agency environment
• Right to work in the UK required
