Site Reliability Engineer -Cloudstore (m/w/d)

About This Role

We are representing a confidential cloud infrastructure organization in Cologne, Germany. They're building the next generation of deployment frameworks for on-premise cloud platforms, with a strong focus on air-gapped environments and edge technologies. This is a Site Reliability Engineer position working on distributed cloud infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain frameworks for packaging and deploying cloud infrastructure components on on-premise platforms, from initial design through automation to production operations
• Develop and evolve Kubernetes-based infrastructure, implementing GitOps workflows with tools like FluxCD
• Write and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Ansible and Terraform rather than manual configuration
• Analyze system behavior when requirements are unclear, identify root causes, and derive improvements
• Onboard new engineering teams onto the platform, helping them become productive with the deployment framework
• Balance security requirements with high levels of automation in production environments
• Participate in on-call rotation to support production systems

What We're Looking For

• Strong Linux system administration skills including deep knowledge of OS internals
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, ideally OpenStack including provisioning and infrastructure operations
• Daily experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and Ansible
• Scripting and automation proficiency in Python, Bash, and Go
• Experience building and operating Kubernetes clusters from scratch—not just using managed services—including installation, upgrades, and troubleshooting
• Knowledge of containers and GitOps workflows
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
• Familiarity with modern observability stacks for metrics, logs, and traces, such as Prometheus and Grafana
• Foundational IT security knowledge including IAM, secrets management, hardening, and compliance
• Understanding of distributed systems concepts including CAP theorem, consensus mechanisms, and fault tolerance
• Structured troubleshooting approach with strong documentation habits
• DevOps mindset with ownership mentality, collaborative team skills, blameless culture approach, and drive for continuous improvement
