About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential technology organization seeking an AI Science Writer for their research communications initiative. This contract role sits at the intersection of scientific research, technical writing, and multimedia storytelling. You'll translate cutting-edge AI and machine learning research into accurate, engaging narratives for diverse audiences.

The position involves reviewing new models, architectures, and research papers to identify genuine innovations, then transforming complex technical concepts into compelling written and visual content. You'll engage directly with researchers and scientific leaders, cover major conferences, and experiment with AI-assisted editorial workflows.

This is an ongoing contract position with a fixed monthly retainer, offering flexibility and potential opportunities for longer-term career development.

Responsibilities

• Produce accurate scientific and technical reviews covering new AI models, architectures, research papers, and emerging trends
• Analyze technical papers to identify meaningful innovations, understand methodologies, evaluate limitations, and communicate significance
• Transform complex model architectures into clear visual narratives including infographics, diagrams, charts, and multimedia elements
• Develop content across multiple formats: analytical reports, long-form features, interviews, technical explainers, newsletters, webinar scripts, and social media
• Interview researchers, engineers, founders, and scientific leaders to uncover insights and provide context
• Cover major AI research conferences and significant developments across the AI ecosystem
• Host or moderate research webinars, interviews, and other on-camera or multimedia formats
• Fact-check and verify technical claims while maintaining clear, engaging editorial voice
• Collaborate with designers and multimedia producers on complex visual and interactive stories
• Create visual assets independently using AI tools and other technologies
• Experiment with AI models, agents, and automation to improve research, editorial, and production workflows

What We're Looking For

• Professional or academic experience in AI/ML research, machine learning engineering, or closely related technical discipline
• Degree in computer science, machine learning, mathematics, physics, engineering, computational science, or relevant technical field
• Strong ability to read and interpret scientific papers, inspect model architectures, compare experimental results, and discuss technical details with researchers
• Excellent technical writing and editorial skills with ability to communicate complex scientific concepts accurately and engagingly
• Strong visual communication instincts and ability to explain technical mechanisms through diagrams and multimedia formats
• Ability to assess significance and limitations of research rather than simply summarize findings
• Excellent interviewing and communication skills with confidence engaging technical experts
• Comfortable working across multiple content formats and adapting material for different audiences
• Familiarity with LLMs and AI-assisted content workflows while maintaining editorial judgment and authorship
• Curiosity about emerging developments in AI, machine learning, and scientific research
• Strong attention to accuracy, fact-checking, and technical detail
• Ability to work independently, take ownership of projects, and collaborate effectively
• Must be authorized to work in Germany
