Senior Data Engineer – Real time analytics

About This Opportunity

We are representing a well-funded technology company in the customer communications space, seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join their Analytics & Data Platform team in Paris. This is an opportunity to work on real-time analytics infrastructure serving tens of thousands of global users.

Our talent team is handling the full recruitment process for this confidential client. You'll work on streaming data platforms that power customer-facing analytics, monitoring dashboards, and reporting capabilities at significant scale.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver scalable, low-latency streaming platform solutions for near real-time data processing
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into optimized data models for big data workloads
• Build and maintain data processing pipelines using Scala, Python, and SQL
• Identify performance bottlenecks and optimize queries for improved system efficiency
• Develop features that unlock data value through real-time insights and comprehensive reporting
• Participate in platform performance optimization and production monitoring
• Mentor team members through constructive feedback and knowledge sharing
• Deploy applications through continuous integration pipelines

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, or related technical field
• 5+ years of experience with modern programming languages (Scala, Python, Go, TypeScript)
• 3+ years of hands-on experience building near real-time analytics systems
• Proven track record designing complex data processing pipelines
• Strong data modeling skills including star schema and dimensional modeling
• Experience with query optimization in data warehouse environments
• Production experience shipping and maintaining code
• Familiarity with AWS data services (Kinesis, Kafka, S3, Redshift, Glue, EMR)
• Knowledge of Apache Pinot, Apache Flink, and Airflow is valuable
• Experience with Kafka is a plus
• Collaborative mindset with openness to sharing ideas and receiving feedback
