About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential mapping technology organization seeking a Software Development Engineer II, Incidents to join their remote-based team in Germany. This senior-level position focuses on building mission-critical systems that power real-time navigation for global customers, processing geospatial data through high-scale backend services, data pipelines, and AI-driven workflows.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Develop and deliver systems across the full incident lifecycle, from intelligent data ingestion to strategic delivery across the platform ecosystem
• Build automated AI agents to gather data and discover closures using proprietary signals
• Design and implement algorithms to validate data integrity and merge duplicate reports into unified sources of truth
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify, scope, and execute well-defined engineering tasks on schedule with high quality
• Design scalable systems that accommodate rapid customer base growth
• Promote operational excellence through rigorous testing, monitoring, documentation, and on-call support
• Partner with AI teams to refine mapping accuracy using real-time customer feedback
• Reduce technical debt while optimizing application performance and feature velocity
• Participate in on-call rotation to ensure 24/7 system availability, which may require immediate response outside normal working hours

What We're Looking For

Our client seeks candidates with:

• 5+ years of full-time backend development experience
• 3+ years working with distributed systems, preferably using AWS-based tools or Azure/GCP alternatives
• Experience leading cross-functional teams of 5+ people
• 3+ years of product-focused development
• Ability to thoughtfully integrate AI into design, development, and decision-making processes
• Strong commitment to collaboration, transparency, inclusion, and data-driven decisions
• Willingness to participate in on-call rotations including weekends when necessary
