Software Engineer – Embedded Systems

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential autonomous systems organization in their search for a Software Engineer - Embedded Systems based in Stuttgart. Our client is at the forefront of intelligent mobility solutions, and this role offers direct impact on cutting-edge autonomous technology development.

As an early team member in Stuttgart, you'll design, develop, and port autonomous software modules across different system-on-chip platforms. You'll work alongside machine learning, vehicle applications, and operating system engineers in a fast-paced, hands-on environment focused on excellence.

Responsibilities

• Develop and debug autonomous stack software on embedded compute platforms
• Collaborate closely with machine learning engineers to optimize perception models for embedded performance
• Interface with automotive middleware and communication protocols including IPC, Ethernet, and DDS
• Support vehicle operations, Software-in-the-Loop (SIL), and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) setups
• Leverage AI-accelerated development tools and workflows
• Bring up new embedded hardware and software systems

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in C/C++ on POSIX and RTOS environments
• Direct experience with automotive SoCs such as NVIDIA Orin, Qualcomm Snapdragon Ride, or similar platforms
• Strong low-level understanding of hardware accelerators including encoders, DSPs, and GPUs
• Deep knowledge of operating systems, specifically QNX and Linux
• Hands-on experience with microcontrollers, hardware debuggers, and flashing interfaces

Nice to have:

• Advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in Computer Science, Robotics, Electronics, or related field
• Experience with ADAS or autonomous driving systems
• Machine learning experience, ideally in perception
• Full product cycle experience from first prototype to series production
• Familiarity with ISO 26262, ASIL, or MISRA C++
