Forward Deployed Engineer (all genders)

About This Role

Our talent team is representing a confidential AI consulting organization seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to join their client-facing technology practice. This position sits at the intersection of strategy and execution—you'll own AI solutions from initial concept through production deployment, working directly with enterprise decision-makers across Germany.

This is not a traditional consulting role. You'll maintain ownership of initiatives end-to-end rather than handing off specifications or implementations. The work centers on agentic systems, RAG pipelines, and LLM integrations for large-scale enterprises in regulated industries including financial services, healthcare, logistics, and public sector.

Locations available: Hamburg, München, Düsseldorf, or remote within Germany.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement AI solution architecture from strategy through production deployment, maintaining accountability throughout the entire lifecycle
• Build agentic systems, retrieval-augmented generation pipelines, and LLM integrations within enterprise environments
• Leverage agentic coding tools as core development infrastructure—not experimental add-ons—to accelerate solution delivery and deployment automation
• Participate from the earliest ideation phases, contributing to both technical and strategic direction rather than executing predefined specifications
• Present and defend technical decisions directly to C-level stakeholders without intermediary layers
• Ensure solutions deliver measurable business impact in production, sharing responsibility for outcomes
• Work regularly on-site at client locations as required by engagement scope

What We're Looking For

• Proven track record taking LLM-based systems into production environments, ideally in forward-deployed or founding engineer capacities
• Production-grade Python expertise including FastAPI, containerization, Git workflows, and CI/CD pipelines
• Deep understanding of agentic architectures, retrieval methods, and function calling patterns
• Demonstrated ability to own and defend technical decisions in front of executive leadership—this experience must already be established
• Proficiency using agentic coding tools as integral development infrastructure, including for building deployment pipelines
• Founder or product-oriented mindset: you share responsibility for business outcomes, not just technical deliverables
• German language proficiency at C1 level or higher
• Business-fluent English
• Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, mathematics, physics, data science, business informatics, or comparable field
• Experience in regulated industries (financial services, healthcare, logistics, energy, public sector, automotive, or defense) strongly preferred
• Willingness to travel regularly for client engagement work
