Senior Accountant / Bilanzbuchhalter:in (m/w/d) – HGB & IFRS

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential software organization seeking a Senior Accountant to take ownership of financial processes and reporting. You will work directly with senior leadership to ensure reliable, transparent financial statements while actively improving processes.

Your core responsibilities include:

• Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements under HGB and IFRS standards, ensuring data quality and completeness
• Managing provisions and inventory valuations, ensuring proper period-end accruals and deferrals
• Preparing tax returns, handling VAT submissions, and supporting tax audits
• Reconciling general ledger and subsidiary ledgers while collaborating with internal and external auditors
• Overseeing day-to-day bookkeeping activities including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger entries
• Contributing ideas for automation and process optimization to reduce routine work, implementing improvements alongside finance leadership

What We're Looking For

• Minimum five years of accounting experience with responsibility for financial statement preparation
• Qualified accountant (IHK Bilanzbuchhalter) or commercial training with focus on finance and accounting; tax advisory background is a plus but not required
• Strong practical knowledge of HGB and IFRS accounting standards
• Proficiency in Excel for daily work; experience with Sage 100 and Candis is advantageous
• Interest in or current use of AI tools to enhance work efficiency
• Fluent English for business communication and fluent German for interactions with tax advisors, authorities, and auditors
• Structured, solution-oriented working style with ability to prioritize independently and manage multiple concurrent projects
• Desire to actively shape processes rather than simply maintain existing systems
