Senior Satellite Systems Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential space technology organization based in Brunswick, Germany, that focuses on advanced satellite systems and orbital operations. Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Satellite Systems Engineer to join their technical team working on mission-critical spacecraft development programmes.

This role offers the opportunity to work on end-to-end satellite mission design, product assurance, and systems engineering across all phases of spacecraft development—from initial design through launch preparation and operational deployment.

Responsibilities

• Review and coordinate Product Assurance & Safety Plans (PASP) and Product Assurance Requirements Documents (PARD)
• Perform end-to-end mission designs tailored to customer specifications and operational requirements
• Assess customer mission requirements and design comprehensive technical solutions
• Identify emerging customer needs and ideate innovative solutions to meet evolving demands
• Contribute to mission design software development initiatives
• Review hardware designs at both system and subsystem levels throughout development cycles
• Support launch preparation activities, environmental test campaign planning, and readiness reviews
• Calculate and maintain system budgets including link budgets, power budgets, and data budgets while tracking margins against requirements throughout the development lifecycle

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• M.Sc. or higher degree in Aerospace Engineering, Space Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or another relevant technical discipline
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in satellite systems engineering with demonstrated responsibility for system-level engineering activities across major spacecraft development phases, including development, integration, verification, qualification, and launch preparation
• 2+ years of experience working within ECSS-compliant development programmes, including technical documentation, formal reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, QR, AR), and certification processes
• Proven track record contributing to at least one satellite mission that successfully entered operational service
• Growth mindset with a commitment to continuous learning and expanding technical horizons
• Willingness to travel and participate in concentrated review campaigns as required
• English proficiency at C1 level or better
• Valid EU work authorization

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with ECSS product assurance practices including FMEA/FMECA, fault tree analysis, critical items lists, RAMS analysis, and ECSS-Q-ST-80C standards
• Experience working on Earth observation missions
• Background with synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imaging systems
