(Senior) People Operations & Excellence Manager (f/m/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a fast-growing European SaaS company that is scaling its People Operations function across multiple countries. With a team of 160+ employees and ambitious growth plans, our client needs an experienced operations professional to build scalable processes, drive automation, and strengthen the operational backbone of their HR function.

This is a hybrid role based in Hamburg, Germany, offering significant ownership and the opportunity to shape how People Operations scales in a high-growth environment. You'll work closely with senior leadership to transform manual workflows into efficient, data-driven systems that support employees and managers across the organization.

Responsibilities

As a People Operations & Excellence Manager, you will own and continuously improve the operational foundations that enable the HR function to scale effectively:

• End-to-End People Operations: Manage core employee lifecycle processes including HRIS administration, contract amendments, payroll inputs, employee data management, and documentation requests with accuracy and compliance
• International Operations Support: Support the operational implementation of international employment setups and entity transitions as the company expands across Europe
• Process Excellence & Automation: Identify repetitive friction points and manual effort, then design and implement practical improvements through existing tools, low-code/no-code solutions, and AI-enabled workflows
• System Leadership: Lead automation initiatives from problem identification through implementation and adoption, partnering with technical teams for complex integrations
• Data & Insights: Build meaningful operational metrics, create dashboards and reporting, and translate data patterns into concrete recommendations and improvement priorities
• Enablement Resources: Develop and maintain manager enablement materials including guides, playbooks, templates, knowledge resources, and self-service formats
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with the Lead People Operations, broader People & Organization team, and technical stakeholders to align seamless end-to-end processes

What We're Looking For

Required Experience & Skills:

• 2–3 years of experience in People Operations or a comparable operational HR role
• Proven track record managing core employee lifecycle processes including HR administration, contract management, payroll inputs, and HRIS maintenance
• Strong process thinking with demonstrated passion for improving workflows, not just executing them
• High affinity for HR systems, structured documentation, and data quality
• Experience managing operational employee and manager requests with accuracy, reliability, and strong service orientation
• Strong analytical skills with ability to identify patterns, prioritize improvements, and translate insights into scalable solutions
• Curiosity and ideally initial experience applying automation and AI to improve operational efficiency
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in German and English (C1/C2 level)
• Experience in a scale-up or high-growth environment
• Located within Germany with willingness to travel to Hamburg headquarters minimum once per quarter

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in an HR function with international employment setups
• Familiarity with Personio, Leapsome, Notion, Slack Workflows, or similar HR technology platforms
• Exposure to no-code automation, AI-assisted workflows, or reporting and dashboard tools
• Additional European language skills
