Senior System Engineer Microsoft 365 und Automatisierung (m/w/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential professional services organization in Hamburg seeking a Senior System Engineer to lead Microsoft 365 administration and automation initiatives. In this role, you will own the operation, enhancement, and automation of the client's Microsoft 365, Azure, and identity environments.

Your day-to-day responsibilities include:

• Managing and evolving Microsoft 365, Azure, and Entra ID platforms, including hybrid identity and directory services with synchronization and permission management
• Administering Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and Exchange—both on-premises and online—including mail flow, connectors, and migrations
• Designing and maintaining MFA and Conditional Access policies
• Analyzing and automating manual processes using PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, and REST APIs
• Developing and documenting scripts and workflows for user lifecycle management, integrating HR, directory, and business systems via APIs
• Troubleshooting complex synchronization, authentication, and permissions issues as part of 3rd-level support
• Planning, leading, and executing IT projects and migrations while coordinating internal stakeholders, external vendors, and manufacturers
• Creating and maintaining technical operations and disaster recovery documentation, and mentoring junior team members

What We're Looking For

Our client needs someone with:

• Multiple years of hands-on experience administering Microsoft 365, Azure, and Entra ID
• Strong knowledge of Active Directory, hybrid identity environments, and Exchange
• Advanced PowerShell skills and practical experience with Microsoft Graph and REST APIs
• Proven experience planning and executing migration projects
• Independent, structured, and solution-oriented working style
• Strong communication skills for engaging with business units, vendors, and service providers
• Very good German language skills (C1 level or equivalent) in both written and spoken form to ensure reliable internal communication

Nice to have: Experience with Exchange hybrid scenarios, SQL, LDAP, PKI, additional programming languages, or Incident/Change/Problem Management according to ITIL frameworks.
