Senior Cloud Engineer – Contract

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech organization based in London that is transforming how cash is managed and protected. Our talent team is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer for a contract engagement to drive critical Azure platform initiatives.

This is a high-impact contract role where you'll work on production cloud infrastructure from day one. You'll join a Cloud Engineering function that builds and operates Azure foundations—landing zones, hub-and-spoke networking, infrastructure-as-code, and the golden paths that accelerate delivery across engineering teams. The team works close to the infrastructure, not abstracted behind policy layers, and your contributions will be immediately visible.

Responsibilities

• Migrate live services onto Azure cloud infrastructure with zero disruption to production systems
• Provide day-to-day operational support and incident response, maintaining migration momentum while relieving pressure on the permanent team
• Author and maintain production-grade Terraform and Bicep modules with testing, validation, versioning, and automated drift detection and remediation
• Design and implement landing zones, hub-and-spoke network architectures, private endpoint patterns, and hybrid connectivity using ExpressRoute and VPN gateways
• Build shared integration layers that enable partners and AI tooling to integrate quickly and securely
• Define and roll out golden paths that reduce delivery costs and accelerate engineering squads
• Establish AI platform foundations including AI gateway, observability stack, and hosting for AI tools with model access through AWS Bedrock
• Build and maintain infrastructure pipelines incorporating security scanning, plan validation, and approval gates
• Implement RBAC using Entra ID, managed identities, and service principals

What We're Looking For

• Senior-level hands-on Azure platform experience across landing zones, networking, identity, and storage
• Production experience with infrastructure-as-code using Terraform and/or Bicep, including migration between them
• Practical expertise with hub-and-spoke networking, private endpoints, DNS integration, and hybrid connectivity
• Proven ability building end-to-end CI/CD pipelines with automated security and compliance gates
• Strong understanding of Entra ID, RBAC, managed identities, and Azure subscription and management group hierarchy
• Demonstrated capability owning both migration delivery and operational support simultaneously
• Clear communication skills for design decisions and trade-offs through engineering briefs and architectural decision records
• Growth mindset and genuine curiosity for continuous learning
• Ability to operate independently and deliver immediate impact without extended ramp-up

Preferred qualifications:

• Relevant Azure certifications such as AZ-104 or AZ-305
• Experience hosting AI workloads, including AI gateways, observability, and model access through AWS Bedrock
• Experience building golden paths or internal developer platforms
• Background working in fintech or financial services environments
