Senior Engineering Manager, Brand Ads and Promotions

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential client in the food-delivery technology sector, seeking a Senior Engineering Manager, Brand Ads and Promotions to join their London-based engineering organization. This is a hybrid role requiring approximately three days per week in the office.

Our client operates a global three-sided marketplace connecting consumers, delivery partners, and merchants. Their ads and promotions platform enables brands and merchants to create sponsored placements, in-app promotions, and targeted campaigns across multiple markets. You'll lead the development of self-serve and programmatic advertising products, owning the complete advertiser journey from onboarding through campaign management to measurement and analytics.

Responsibilities

• Build, hire, and mentor high-performing engineering teams focused on scalable advertising products and distributed backend systems
• Lead engineering vision, strategy, and execution across multiple teams within the EMEA ads organization
• Develop advertiser-facing products utilizing distributed systems architecture and modern frontend frameworks
• Drive AI adoption for productivity gains, building AI-powered applications and improving team workflows
• Balance short-term delivery with long-term strategic planning, breaking down complex systems into sustainable, iterable components
• Collaborate cross-functionally with stakeholders, external partners, and peer engineering leaders
• Drive continuous improvement in software architecture, development processes, and engineering excellence
• Dive into technical details when necessary to unblock teams and solve complex engineering challenges
• Ensure reliability, quality, and operational excellence across all team deliverables

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Extensive experience in software engineering with deep expertise in large-scale distributed systems
• Proven track record building teams from the ground up (0 to 1) and scaling sustainable engineering organizations
• Experience managing through senior leaders and managers, not just individual contributors
• Exceptional communication and leadership capabilities with demonstrated success in fast-moving environments
• Strong performance management skills including coaching, mentoring, and team development
• Hands-on approach to addressing infrastructure gaps and driving technical execution
• Customer-focused mindset spanning multiple stakeholder groups (end consumers, service providers, merchants)
• Adaptability and resilience in ambiguous, rapidly evolving contexts
• Growth-oriented perspective focused on business impact and global expansion
• Openness to feedback and willingness to roll up sleeves when needed

Preferred experience:

• Background in ad-tech product development
