About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential sustainability consulting organization in their search for a working student (Werkstudent) to support process automation and AI-driven software development. This is a part-time role of 15-20 hours per week based in Cologne, where you'll contribute to building intelligent tools that automate energy audit creation and streamline internal workflows.

Our client supports industrial and mid-market companies in their transition to sustainable energy systems. To scale their impact, they are developing AI-powered automation tools, and you'll play a hands-on role in building agent-based systems that analyze data, calculate energy parameters, structure content, and generate reports.

Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance AI-powered workflows for automated energy audit creation
• Build, test, and improve AI agents using AWS Bedrock, Claude, and Python
• Process, analyze, and structure project and energy data for automation purposes
• Create automated evaluations and visualizations using Plotly
• Ensure quality control of AI-generated content for technical accuracy, traceability, and usability
• Document workflows, prompts, data structures, and technical decisions
• Develop frontend interfaces for internal use of AI tools
• Support sales efforts through phone outreach, trade show participation, and client relationship management

What We're Looking For

Education: Currently pursuing a Master's degree in a technical, scientific, business, or computer science-related field (e.g., Computer Science, Business Informatics, Industrial Engineering, Energy/Environmental Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics)

Required Skills and Experience:

• Proficiency in Python for data processing, automation, or backend logic
• Confident and independent use of Git for version control
• Basic understanding of APIs, databases, or web development
• Familiarity with Large Language Models and AI agents
• Experience with data processing and structured information storage
• Ability to understand complex technical processes and user requirements
• Analytical thinking and structured working approach
• Motivation to learn, work independently, and take ownership
• Excellent German language skills, minimum C1 level, both written and spoken

Helpful (but not required):

• Experience with AWS Bedrock or other cloud and AI infrastructures
• Prompt engineering and structured agent workflows
• Data visualization with Plotly

Additional Requirements:

• Interest in sustainability, energy transition, digitalization, and AI-powered automation
• Availability to work at least 75% of working hours on-site at a coworking space in Cologne
