Head of Accounting Europe (mHub) (m/w/d) – Bexbach | Vollzeit

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential manufacturing organization with operations across multiple European countries. This role carries full operational and technical leadership for accounting activities spanning Germany, Switzerland, and Norway.

You will prepare individual financial statements under HGB/OR and IFRS, including notes, management reports, and interim IFRS statements. Complete responsibility for balance sheet, P&L, and cash flow statements for European entities sits with this position. You will ensure accurate, timely monthly, quarterly, and annual closings including general ledger, subledgers, provisions, and accruals.

Quality assurance across all balance sheet positions is essential, including balance sheet analysis, account reconciliations, and cash flow reporting. You will hold technical and operational responsibility for German and Swiss entities while managing external accounting service providers in Norway. The role includes accounting oversight for UK operations classified as held for sale.

You will serve as the primary contact for auditors, tax advisors, and external review bodies, while advancing an effective internal control system. As the central point of contact for complex accounting questions under HGB and IFRS, you will address IFRS 16, IFRS 5, impairment testing, purchase price allocations, intercompany reconciliations, and foreign currency valuation.

Ownership of the annual budgeting and planning process includes forecasts and variance analysis. You will act as a business partner to operational units on financial matters and investment decisions, while leading the transformation and modernization of the European accounting function. This includes directing the Dynamics 365 Business Central upgrade and standardizing/digitizing Record-to-Report, Procure-to-Pay, and Order-to-Cash processes.

Building, leading, and developing a high-performing accounting team through recruiting, coaching, and development rounds out your remit.

What We're Looking For

Essential requirements:

• Successfully completed degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or equivalent
• Several years of leadership experience in accounting within an international company
• Proven track record managing multiple entities across different countries
• Deep operational accounting experience with a strong hands-on mentality
• Excellent knowledge of HGB and IFRS accounting standards
• Business-fluent English; German language skills mandatory

Valuable additions:

• Certified Public Accountant, Tax Advisor, or comparable professional qualification
• Demonstrable experience in transformation projects, organizational development, and ERP implementations
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or comparable ERP systems
• Strong communication, leadership, and change management capabilities
