Member of Technical Staff, Machine Learning

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential AI startup focused on building proactive, intelligent applications for everyday users worldwide. Our client is developing production ML systems that handle long-running workflows, persistent context, and real-world task completion with minimal user prompting.

As a Member of Technical Staff, Machine Learning, you will build core ML components and work on real production systems from day one. This role is designed for engineers who want to develop strong systems judgment by shipping, debugging, and iterating on real-world ML applications.

Responsibilities

• Build and improve ML components across data pipelines, training, evaluation, and inference systems
• Fine-tune and adapt models as part of larger production environments
• Implement evaluation and testing frameworks to understand model behavior in production
• Help build and maintain data pipelines handling both real-world and synthetic data
• Debug model issues, performance problems, and production incidents systematically
• Ship improvements iteratively based on real user feedback
• Collaborate closely with senior ML engineers and product teams
• Work under production constraints including latency, cost, reliability, and safety requirements

What We're Looking For

• Strong foundations in machine learning and modern neural architectures
• Hands-on experience training, fine-tuning, or deploying ML models
• Proficiency in Python and experience with PyTorch or JAX
• Experience with production ML systems running on GPUs
• Ability to write production-quality code and learn new tools quickly
• Curious, coachable mindset with eagerness to learn from real production systems
• Ability to work through ambiguity with guidance and grow ownership over time
• Strong bias toward shipping, iteration, and continuous improvement
• Authorization to work in Germany
