AI Scientist – Entrepreneur in Residence

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential biotechnology organization at the forefront of decentralized science infrastructure. Our client is seeking an exceptional AI Scientist to join as an Entrepreneur in Residence, building autonomous agent systems that accelerate scientific discovery from target identification through IP development.

This is a unique founder-level opportunity to define how AI transforms drug discovery. You will architect, deploy, and operate fleets of autonomous scientific agents against real disease areas, owning the entire loop from design through production scientific output.

Responsibilities

• Design and deploy autonomous agent fleets spanning literature mining, target identification, molecular design, assay design, and data analysis
• Pilot agent systems against specific disease areas, driving each to tangible deliverables including validated targets, candidate molecules, novel datasets, and intellectual property
• Operate multiple parallel agent fleets across different disease areas with direct reporting to executive leadership
• Own the complete technical stack including agent architecture, orchestration, evaluation frameworks, and scientific validation of outputs
• Establish standards and best practices for autonomous science operations within the organization
• Complete an intensive four-week on-site residency with the founding team, shipping your first production agent fleet during this period

What We're Looking For

• Strong entrepreneurial drive with a proven ability to ship products and take initiative without waiting for direction
• Deep technical expertise across large language models, agent frameworks, and at least one wet-science domain such as chemistry, biology, pharmaceutical science, structural biology, or genomics
• Comfort operating in ambiguous, frontier environments where you may be the sole expert in your domain
• Academic credentials from top-tier institutions (Oxbridge, Ivy League, MIT, Caltech, Stanford, ETH/EPFL, Imperial, or equivalent) or demonstrable equivalent achievements if you took a non-traditional path
• Willingness to commit to high-intensity work including a four-week on-site residency and sustained founder-level pace
• Ability to make sound scientific judgments on agent-generated outputs and iterate rapidly based on results
