About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential IT consultancy that operates critical DevOps platforms for clients in the insurance sector. Our talent team is seeking a DevOps Engineer to join their Application Management Services practice across Berlin, Bonn, or Essen.

This is not a role focused solely on running pipelines. You will architect complete operational and deployment platforms, take ownership of production customer environments, and implement modern DevOps practices from build through rollout. The team operates platforms using automation, Infrastructure as Code, and GitOps principles while providing third-level support and conducting deployments for live customer systems.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and optimize automated build, test, and deployment processes
  • Develop custom Puppet modules and automation solutions
  • Execute rollouts in customer environments
  • Support development teams on architecture and operations questions
  • Analyze and resolve complex operational issues in third-level support
  • Build and advance monitoring, logging, and observability solutions
  • Contribute to operation and evolution of CI/CD platforms
  • Operate and develop Kubernetes platforms
  • Work on modern GitOps and cloud-native concepts

What We're Looking For

Must-Have:

  • Experience in Linux environments
  • Experience with automation and Infrastructure as Code
  • Understanding of modern DevOps principles
  • Enthusiasm for sustainable solutions and independent work
  • Deep knowledge in at least one of: Puppet/Bolt, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes/Cluster API, or Linux administration
  • Native-level German and good English proficiency

Technical Environment:

  • CI/CD: Jenkins, Bitbucket, Maven, Gradle, npm, Sonatype Nexus
  • Configuration Management: Puppet, Bolt, r10k, Terraform, Bash, PowerShell, Ruby
  • Container/Kubernetes: Kubernetes, Cluster API, ArgoCD, Docker, GitOps, Proxmox
  • Monitoring: OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana
  • Databases/Middleware: PostgreSQL, Spring Boot
  • Operating Systems: Ubuntu Linux, Windows Server

Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience operating business-critical applications
  • PostgreSQL experience
  • Knowledge of observability and monitoring solutions
  • Shell scripting experience (Bash or PowerShell)
  • Java/Kotlin or Spring Boot knowledge
  • Experience in regulated or security-critical environments
