Senior Robotic Learning Engineer (m/f/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential robotics organization seeking a Senior Robotic Learning Engineer to architect the complete pipeline that transforms raw robot and human data into deployed foundation models—from initial collection through post-training to on-robot deployment.

In this role, you will:

• Own System Architecture: Design and maintain how collection, generation, augmentation, annotation, valuation, and evaluation integrate as one coherent data-to-model pipeline, prioritizing engineering investment where it delivers the greatest model performance improvements.
• Lead Model Evaluation and Deployment: Integrate post-training and evaluation frameworks in both simulation and real hardware environments, establishing reliable automatic deployment pathways on robotic platforms.
• Drive Data Valuation and Curation: Develop methods and metrics to assess data quality and value—including diversity, coverage, redundancy, and task relevance—using these insights to guide collection, retention, and disposal decisions.
• Build Data Generation Systems: Create synthetic and simulation-based data generation pipelines, including real-to-sim-to-real transfer, procedural task and scene generation, and generative models to scale training data beyond physical collection.
• Design Data Collection Infrastructure: Build scalable systems for collecting robot-generated data (teleoperation, autonomous rollouts, scripted policies) and human data (egocentric video, demonstrations) to train imitation learning and VLA models.
• Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner with research scientists, robotics engineers, and infrastructure teams to translate model and research requirements into production data and evaluation systems.

What We're Looking For

Essential qualifications:

• Educational Background: Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Machine Learning, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Professional Experience: 5+ years in robotics, autonomous driving, machine learning, or data engineering, with demonstrated ownership of systems spanning multiple pipeline stages rather than isolated components.
• Robot Learning Expertise: Hands-on experience with imitation learning, Vision-Language-Action models, robot foundation models, reinforcement learning, or other learning-based robotics approaches.
• Programming Proficiency: Production-grade Python skills sufficient for building reliable systems rather than research prototypes; C++ familiarity is advantageous.
• Systems-Level Thinking: Ability to reason about how decisions at one pipeline stage affect outcomes at another—such as how data collection impacts model performance or evaluation results—and design across those boundaries.

Beneficial experience includes:

• Simulation platforms such as Isaac Sim or MuJoCo for synthetic data generation and sim-to-real transfer
• Data valuation techniques including active learning, coreset selection, influence functions, or methods for quantifying training data value
• Human data collection with egocentric systems, AR/VR devices, hand tracking, or teleoperation frameworks for embodied AI
• Large-scale data pipeline design and operation—collection, storage, processing, labeling—for machine learning training
• Model serving, edge or real-time inference, or cloud-based deployment infrastructure (MLOps)
