AI / ML Quantitative Research Manager

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential quantitative investment firm seeking an AI/ML Quantitative Research Manager to lead collaborative research efforts on their systematic trading desk. Reporting to senior quantitative leadership, you will:

• Shape the long-term AI/ML research roadmap in partnership with the head of quantitative strategies
• Design, prototype, and develop production-grade AI/ML models that process large-scale alternative datasets to generate tradable signals
• Enhance existing trading signals to improve efficiency, profitability, and robustness through advanced machine learning techniques
• Work collaboratively within a research team environment using common development tools to ensure models are scalable and compliant
• Coordinate with data science, technology, operations, trading, and other departments to implement and monitor AI/ML initiatives
• Identify and integrate novel big-data sources into the firm's data pipeline
• Enhance portfolio scalability and flexibility to accommodate bespoke client investment needs
• Produce white papers, internal presentations, and external publications on AI/ML advances; present at industry conferences
• Present findings and research ideas regularly to senior management and investment committees

What We're Looking For

• PhD or MS in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or related AI/ML discipline
• 7+ years of hands-on AI/ML research and production deployment experience in quantitative or data-science environments
• Strong understanding of systematic trading concepts; financial markets experience is valued but secondary to AI technical expertise
• Demonstrated fundamental research experience in AI/ML, including publications or conference presentations
• Advanced programming skills in languages suited for quantitative research and strategy implementation
• Ability to synthesize complex technical topics into clear verbal and written communication
• Exposure to securities and derivatives markets with knowledge of mid-to-low frequency systematic strategies preferred
• Experience managing quantitative research teams is a plus

This role requires in-office presence Monday through Friday in London. The core quantitative research team is based elsewhere, so collaboration across locations will be important.
