Quality Assurance Officer (1 year maternity cover)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential certification organization seeking a Quality Assurance Officer for a 1-year maternity cover contract. This is a fully remote role open to candidates across Europe who hold valid work permits for their country of residence.

Our client operates within the medical device certification space, maintaining rigorous quality management systems under international regulatory frameworks. This position reports to the Quality & Regulatory Manager and plays a vital role in ensuring compliance and continuous improvement across internal processes.

Responsibilities

• Maintain internal quality management systems for medical device certification schemes
• Update and manage documentation under medical device directives and regulations
• Oversee document control, records management, and quality management system software
• Manage complaints, compliance queries, appeals, and continual improvement processes
• Perform quality assurance checks on updated system documents and release approved versions
• Coordinate with global medical device certification team members and technical managers
• Provide technical support across the business and maintain knowledge of regulatory guidance
• Support development and maintenance of combined scheme documents
• Manage internal databases and publish relevant documentation

What We're Looking For

Essential Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Biomedical Sciences, pharmacy, bioengineering, nursing, or similar field
• Significant work experience in a position with quality assurance responsibility
• Strong working knowledge of quality management systems including CAPA management and document control
• Excellent understanding of good documentation practices
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload independently
• Ability to write clear procedures and technical documentation
• Proficiency with MS Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Fluent written and spoken English
• Demonstrated flexibility and ability to work collaboratively in teams

Preferred Qualifications:

• Detailed understanding of medical device regulations (MDR, IVDR, MDD)
• Knowledge of ISO 17021-1:2015, ISO 13485, or ISO 9001 standards
• Experience working with medical devices
• Auditing experience against recognized standards
• Medical device training certifications
