Finance & AI Automation Intern (Remote Full-time)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential data technology organization in their search for a Finance & AI Automation Intern based remotely in France. Our client works with Fortune 500 companies on data quality solutions and operates across multiple entities in Belgium and the United States. This is a genuine operational role where you'll run core finance processes and progressively automate them using AI tools.

This is a remote full-time internship position with European business hours required.

Responsibilities

• Execute core finance processes including invoice processing, month-end reporting, payroll data preparation, expense management, and intercompany recharges across three entities and two currencies
• Learn each process thoroughly, then design and implement automations using AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, GitHub) or advanced spreadsheet solutions as appropriate
• Build verification systems into every automation: reconciliations and controls that prove output accuracy before handoff
• Create process documentation that serves both human colleagues and AI agents
• Support the wider finance team with reporting, analysis, and ad-hoc projects across Belgian and US operations
• Proactively identify manual bottlenecks and propose automation solutions

What We're Looking For

Must-Have:

• Currently studying towards or recently completed a degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or related field
• Demonstrable experience building with AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, or similar) and/or creating automations, scripts, or advanced spreadsheet solutions—you must be able to show us an example and explain your verification approach
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy as a natural habit; you notice when numbers don't reconcile and won't sign off on unverified outputs
• Self-sufficient learner who can pick up GitHub, MCP-based integrations, and finance systems independently
• Proactive mindset: you identify repetitive work and design solutions rather than accepting manual processes
• Fluent English, written and spoken
• Availability during European business hours from any compatible time zone

Good to Have:

• Experience with accounting software (Exact Online, QuickBooks) or ERP systems
• Exposure to Python, SQL, or API-based automation
• Prior startup or fast-paced environment experience
