Managing Director (m/w/d) Finance & BI

About This Opportunity

We are representing a specialized consultancy in the finance and business intelligence space, seeking a Managing Director to lead their operations in Stuttgart. This is a rare dual-role opportunity where you will provide strategic leadership for the entire organization while remaining actively involved in client-facing project work. You'll shape the company's direction, develop the team, and personally contribute to engagements involving financial planning, reporting, and consolidation solutions.

Our client operates with a small, highly specialized team and offers direct influence over business development, client strategy, and operational excellence. This role suits someone who thrives on both strategic thinking and hands-on consulting.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic and operational development of the business alongside the existing team, while maintaining active project involvement
• Take full ownership of client engagements in finance, reporting, corporate planning, and consolidation, including direct consulting work
• Advise management-level clients on business processes, data-driven solutions, and operational challenges
• Oversee complex projects from conception through implementation, including hands-on execution and steering
• Manage and expand existing client relationships while supporting presales and pitch activities
• Contribute to solution architectures and technical concepts within finance, BI, and planning environments
• Lead, coach, and develop the team to ensure operational excellence and achievement of strategic goals
• Shape market positioning, growth initiatives, and future company strategy

What We're Looking For

• Completed degree in business administration, finance, controlling, business informatics, or related field
• Minimum 5 years of experience in finance, controlling, reporting, corporate planning, and consolidation, with several years in leadership roles managing teams or projects
• Background in consulting, project advisory, or implementation projects within finance and BI environments strongly preferred
• Entrepreneurial mindset combined with enthusiasm for active client consulting and operational project work
• Analytical and structured working style with high degree of personal accountability
• Technical understanding of BI, data models, or planning solutions advantageous
• Excellent German language skills for communication with team and clients
• Willingness to travel and flexibility for client meetings and project support
