Responsibilities
We are representing a confidential logistics organization operating modern automated fulfillment operations in the Berlin-Brandenburg region. As Maintenance Operations & Continuous Improvement Manager, you will take strategic responsibility for the performance and continuous development of material handling systems and maintenance processes at the facility.
You will serve as the central interface between automated and manual fulfillment processes, operational teams, your maintenance team, engineering and analytics teams, and external partners. Your role involves translating overarching site objectives into concrete improvement initiatives, using data to identify optimization potential, and ensuring that system availability, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement remain at a high level long-term.
- Hands-on leadership: Manage the maintenance function in daily operations and support Maintenance Engineers and Supervisors in leading their teams effectively. Establish the right structures and priorities to ensure achievement of system availability goals.
- Strategic ownership of maintenance: Develop the long-term performance strategy for the maintenance function and take responsibility for key KPIs in safety, quality, throughput, and operational efficiency.
- Continuous improvement and operational excellence: Drive site-wide Kaizen initiatives, Lean methods, and root-cause analyses. Identify structural improvement opportunities and embed continuous improvement into daily operations.
- Data-driven process and automation optimization: Analyze complex operational and technical processes using data, identify bottlenecks, and develop solutions with technical teams to sustainably improve system reliability and availability.
- Cross-functional interface: Bring together maintenance, engineering, suppliers, planning, analytics, and operations to ensure all stakeholders work toward common goals and processes function smoothly across the value chain.
- Standards and governance: Ensure compliance with safety standards, 5S principles, and operational best practices across the entire site, focusing on structures and standards rather than daily technical detail management.
What We're Looking For
- Master's degree (MSc) in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a comparable technical or analytical field
- 5+ years of professional experience focused on maintenance, operational strategy, continuous improvement, or process engineering
- Strong interest in automation, robotics, and technical maintenance systems
- Proven experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen methodologies, ideally in an automated high-volume environment
- Excellent analytical skills and experience with data analysis tools such as Tableau, Excel, Sheets, or SQL
- Strategic mindset with the ability to influence cross-functionally and drive larger initiatives
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with enthusiasm for bringing together diverse stakeholders
- Fluent English required; German language skills are a significant advantage
