About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential IT services organization based in Mannheim that is actively expanding its infrastructure team. Our client works with enterprise customers who are modernizing their virtualization platforms, evolving Windows Server environments, and hardening Active Directory structures. They need an experienced system engineer who understands infrastructure, makes sound technical decisions, and delivers projects with precision.

In this role, you will take ownership of infrastructure initiatives from conception through migration to secure, reliable operations. This is a German-speaking position requiring very good German language skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and operate hypervisor and virtualization environments including Proxmox, Hyper-V, and VMware; modernize existing platforms and execute migrations
• Plan, install, and maintain Windows Server environments and core Microsoft server products including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, file and print services, and Remote Desktop Services
• Analyze existing environments, identify vulnerabilities, and implement Windows Server Security and AD Hardening measures including secure configurations, permission models, administrative concepts, and privileged account protection
• Lead infrastructure projects independently from initial assessment and technical planning through implementation, documentation, and handover to operations
• Develop backup and recovery concepts while ensuring functional monitoring, patch management, and regular recovery testing
• Serve as technical escalation point for 3rd-level support, analyzing root causes and implementing sustainable solutions
• Create clear documentation, improve operational concepts, automate recurring tasks, and actively share knowledge with the team

What We're Looking For

• Several years of professional experience designing and operating Windows Server infrastructures and standard Microsoft server products and services
• Strong practical experience with hypervisors and virtualization (Proxmox, Hyper-V, or VMware) including associated storage and network connectivity
• Excellent knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP, plus experience with file structures, permissions, and Remote Desktop Services
• Hands-on experience with Windows Server Security and AD Hardening, including security policies, administrative privilege separation, and privileged account protection
• Solid expertise in backup, recovery, monitoring, and patch management
• Good PowerShell skills for administration, analysis, and automation
• Structured and independent working style with ability to document clearly, recognize technical dependencies, and raise risks early
• Ability to explain technical relationships and decisions to customers in an understandable way
• Very good German language skills and Class B driver's license
