Sr. Forward Deployed Engineer – FDE (Fullstack)

Responsibilities

Our talent team is representing a confidential data platform organization seeking a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer to work directly with enterprise clients across Berlin and Munich. In this hands-on role, you will architect and implement production-grade solutions to complex data and AI challenges.

You will own end-to-end technical delivery for strategic customer engagements, leading architecture decisions and building systems that span data engineering, machine learning, and application development. Working closely with engagement managers and client stakeholders—from technical contributors to executives—you will design scalable data architectures, implement custom applications, integrate ML/AI models, and ensure solutions meet both technical requirements and business objectives.

Your work will include:

• Leading impactful technical projects by delivering production-ready systems and reference architectures
• Guiding transformational big data and AI initiatives through end-to-end design, build, and deployment
• Embedding with customer teams to deeply understand challenges and deliver measurable outcomes
• Collaborating with project managers, architects, and customer teams to ensure successful delivery
• Bootstrapping and implementing customer projects that drive platform adoption and value realization
• Contributing reusable accelerators, frameworks, and best practices that scale across engagements
• Managing technical scope, timelines, and deliverables with strong customer empathy

What We're Looking For

We seek candidates with 6+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics platforms, or software engineering who combine deep technical expertise with strong client-facing skills.

Required technical capabilities:

• Proficiency writing production code in Python, Scala, or JavaScript/TypeScript with modern frameworks
• Working knowledge of at least two major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) with deep expertise in one
• Strong experience with distributed computing using Apache Spark and understanding of runtime internals
• Hands-on experience designing and deploying production data architectures that combine data pipelines, ML/AI models, and user interfaces
• Familiarity with CI/CD practices for production deployments
• Working knowledge of MLOps, machine learning models, and AI APIs

Essential professional skills:

• Proven experience managing technical project delivery including scope, timelines, and measurable outcomes
• Track record working with enterprise clients and managing stakeholder relationships across broad audiences
• Strong documentation and whiteboarding abilities to communicate complex technical concepts
• Curiosity and adaptability to explore new technologies and approaches
• Willingness to travel to client sites approximately 20% of the time
• Relevant platform certifications are valued
