Mandatory Internship(Unpaid), Software Test(QA) Automation Engineer

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential SaaS client in Berlin seeking a Software Test (QA) Automation Engineer intern to support their quality assurance initiatives. This is a mandatory unpaid internship position for students currently enrolled in a degree program.

In this role, you will:

• Build and maintain end-to-end UI automation for a web application
• Write test plans, test cases, and regression suites for functional flows
• Convert product requirements into automated checks, including edge cases
• Collaborate with the UI team to set up test data strategies and stable selectors
• Implement API-level checks where appropriate to reduce flaky UI tests
• Run tests in CI environments, track failures, triage bugs, and maintain test reliability
• Add basic performance and reliability checks for key user workflows
• Leverage AI tools to accelerate test creation, analysis, and maintenance

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field requiring a mandatory internship
• Hands-on experience with at least one test automation framework (Playwright or Cypress strongly preferred)
• Proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript, and version control with Git
• Understanding of SaaS quality fundamentals, continuous integration, and reliable test design principles
• Interest in AI technologies and experience using AI tools for engineering tasks
• Fluent English communication skills, both written and spoken

Preferred qualifications:

• Previous SaaS UI automation experience from projects or prior internships
• Familiarity with API testing tools such as Postman or REST clients
• Location in Berlin with availability for occasional onsite collaboration

Technical environment: You may work with tools including Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, WebdriverIO, TestCafe, Jest, Vitest, Mocha, and CI platforms like GitHub Actions.
