(Senior) DevOps Engineer – Infrastructure & Security (m/f/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential German e-commerce organization seeking a (Senior) DevOps Engineer - Infrastructure & Security to take technical ownership of their complete infrastructure stack. This is a hands-on role where you'll be responsible for everything from on-premise data center operations to cloud infrastructure, networking, and deployment pipelines.

Our client operates at significant scale, serving millions of users with a lean 20-person team. You'll work in a culture of ownership with direct access to leadership and the autonomy to make architectural decisions without committee approval.

Location: Osnabrück, Germany (hybrid working model)

Responsibilities

• Own and operate the complete Linux server landscape including on-premise clusters (Proxmox, ZFS) and AWS infrastructure
• Manage and harden network security: firewalls, VPN, access control, certificates, and system hardening including network connections to major business partners
• Automate infrastructure with Ansible, maintaining version-controlled, reproducible, and well-documented systems
• Operate the container platform (Docker, Nomad, Traefik) and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions) to enable fast, secure deployments
• Administer production MySQL databases including backups, performance optimization, and recovery procedures
• Expand monitoring, logging, and alerting capabilities (Grafana, New Relic) and conduct root cause analysis for incidents
• Serve as a technical partner to engineering, data, and product teams, explaining architectural decisions and infrastructure design

What We're Looking For

• Several years of experience operating Linux server environments (Debian/Ubuntu) with the ability to troubleshoot and manage systems independently
• Strong networking knowledge: TCP/IP, routing, DNS, load balancing, firewall and VPN administration
• Proven infrastructure security experience: hardening, access control, and security best practices
• Production experience with: Ansible, container orchestration (Nomad, Kubernetes, or similar), and CI/CD pipelines
• Cloud platform experience: AWS or comparable public cloud provider
• MySQL administration in production environments
• Scripting proficiency: Bash and Python for tooling and automation
• Operational expertise: monitoring, logging, and troubleshooting as core competencies
• Plus: Experience with Terraform, RabbitMQ, Redis, or Zero-Trust concepts
• Language: Good English written and spoken (international engineering team)

Pay

Compensation details will be discussed during the screening process. On-call duties are compensated separately and distributed across the team.
