Virtual IOP Therapist – California

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential telehealth organization seeking a Virtual IOP Therapist licensed in California. Our client specializes in evidence-based treatment for complex mental health presentations and operates a national virtual care platform. This is a full-time position delivering intensive outpatient services to individuals with high-acuity needs.

Responsibilities

• Conduct virtual clinical evaluations for intensive outpatient program candidates
• Provide individual and group therapy using evidence-based modalities including CBT, ERP, ACT, and Motivational Interviewing
• Treat high-acuity primary presentations and co-occurring conditions such as depression, anxiety, trauma, and body-focused repetitive behaviors
• Complete 25 hours of direct clinical work per week, including approximately 15 hours facilitating intensive groups, admission assessments, individual sessions, supported interventions, pre-screening calls, and family sessions
• Maintain assigned caseload for individual and family therapy while members are enrolled in the program
• Perform ongoing risk assessment and safety planning, escalating per clinical protocol
• Provide case management ensuring continuity between members, clinicians, external providers, and community agencies
• Make session-level clinical adjustments and manage treatment-interfering behaviors in real time
• Develop individualized treatment plans and support discharge and aftercare planning
• Attend 2 hours of weekly group clinical consultation and participate in ongoing training
• Collaborate cross-departmentally to maintain clinical excellence and workflow efficiency
• Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with ethical and legal standards, including EHR records and program metrics
• Build strategic relationships with community therapists and agencies to support referral pathways

What We're Looking For

• Master's degree required
• Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or equivalent in California with full and unrestricted license in good standing
• Advanced expertise in CBT, ERP, and ACT; experience with HRT and PE preferred
• 3+ years of experience with a wide range of evidence-based interventions preferred
• 2+ years of experience in higher levels of care (IOP, PHP, residential, or inpatient) preferred
• 2+ years of group curriculum development, facilitation, and therapeutic milieu skills preferred
• Exceptional clinical judgment and strong crisis-management skills
• Ability to navigate complex cases in group settings and manage high-stress situations including risk assessments
• Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and time-management abilities
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to provide directive interventions while maintaining warmth and collaboration
• Empathy and genuine commitment to helping patients with high levels of avoidance and resistance
• Flexibility to work shifts including evenings
• Ability to work independently and as part of a virtual team
• Comfortable using technology for communication and efficient in virtual care delivery
• Confidential, private location to work remotely from with reliable internet access
• Willingness to participate in cross-license application as needed for program expansion

Pay

The client offers a salary range of $80,000–$120,000 with eligibility for performance bonus. Benefits include health insurance (dental and vision), life insurance, 401(k), employee discount, paid time off, and parental leave.
