About This Opportunity

We are representing a well-established veterinary practice in Reading, Berkshire, seeking a Senior Veterinary Nurse to join their team on either a full-time or part-time basis. Our client operates a modern, well-equipped facility serving the local community with comprehensive veterinary services.

The practice features three consulting rooms, a dedicated theatre, digital X-ray capabilities, and recently upgraded diagnostic equipment. You'll be working alongside a collaborative team of veterinary surgeons, nursing staff, and administrative professionals in a supportive environment with convenient parking facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality nursing care across theatre, inpatient care, diagnostics, and medical cases
  • Run nurse consultations including post-operative checks, weight management clinics, puppy and kitten clinics, and senior pet wellness appointments
  • Support day-to-day coordination of the nursing team and clinical areas
  • Lead by example in promoting patient care standards, infection control, and clinical best practices
  • Mentor and coach Student Veterinary Nurses, Animal Nursing Assistants, and less experienced RVNs
  • Assist with nurse training, inductions, and ongoing clinical development programs
  • Contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement initiatives, and practice protocols
  • Support stock control, equipment maintenance, and efficient operation of clinical areas
  • Provide exceptional client care and education to support preventative healthcare and treatment plans

What We're Looking For

  • Current registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS
  • Significant experience in clinical practice with strong medical and surgical nursing skills
  • Demonstrated experience and aptitude for mentoring or coaching colleagues
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Proactive approach to quality improvement, learning, and professional development
  • Confidence in running nurse consultations across various specialties
  • Leadership qualities with the ability to support and develop team members

Working Pattern: Ideally 40 hours per week (four 10-hour shifts between 8:00 AM - 7:30 PM), though part-time applications will be considered.
