Director of Practice and Clinical Services

Responsibilities

We are representing a well-established, two-site small animal practice in semi-rural North Yorkshire, and we're seeking a Director of Practice and Clinical Services to lead and inspire their team.

In this role, you will spend approximately 80% of your time delivering hands-on clinical care across a varied caseload, including consultations and surgery. The remaining time will be dedicated to strategic leadership responsibilities, where you will:

• Set and execute the strategic direction across both practice sites
• Lead and develop multidisciplinary veterinary teams
• Support and mentor less experienced veterinarians and new graduates through clinical discussions and case guidance
• Drive clinical standards, governance, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Ensure high standards across operations, client experience, and business performance
• Shape practice culture and support sustainable growth
• Influence how the practice evolves and grows in the future

The working pattern is 40 hours per week across either 4 or 5 days, with a share of one in four Saturday mornings. There are no out-of-hours or on-call commitments.

What We're Looking For

Our client is seeking a senior veterinary professional who combines strong clinical expertise with proven leadership capability. The ideal candidate will have:

• Proven experience in a senior or leadership role within veterinary practice
• Strong clinical expertise with confidence to support complex case discussions and decision-making
• A collaborative, people-focused leadership style with demonstrated experience mentoring and developing others
• Strong commercial acumen and the ability to drive operational excellence
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• The ability to balance hands-on clinical work with strategic leadership responsibilities

You'll be joining an experienced, friendly, and supportive team at a well-equipped practice featuring digital and dental X-ray, ultrasound, and multiparameter monitoring. The location offers beautiful Yorkshire countryside living with easy access to York, Harrogate, and Selby, plus outdoor areas including the North York Moors and East Coast.

Pay

Our client offers a competitive compensation package including salary up to £85,000 depending on experience, plus a welcome bonus of up to £3,000 and a relocation allowance of up to £3,000.
