About This Opportunity
Our talent team is representing a confidential aerospace organization based in Munich, Germany. They are seeking an experienced AIT MGSE Engineer to design and deliver mechanical ground support equipment for advanced space vehicle assembly and testing operations.
This is a hands-on engineering role where you'll conceptualize, design, procure, and commission the MGSEs needed for critical integration activities. You'll work at the intersection of CAD design, structural analysis, and manufacturing oversight.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineering and assembly teams to define requirements and timelines for various mechanical ground support equipment needed for assembly and testing activities
- Conceptualize and design MGSEs using CAD software, including creation of manufacturing drawings and detailed specifications
- Perform mechanical analysis through hand calculations, FEA, and proof testing to validate designs against external loads
- Engage with suppliers to optimize designs for manufacturability and select appropriate manufacturing processes
- Manage procurement and manufacturing follow-up with suppliers, addressing technical questions to ensure timely delivery
- Support assembly, commissioning, and implementation of MGSEs with clear instructions and hands-on involvement
- Produce comprehensive documentation including design descriptions, assembly instructions, and test reports
What We're Looking For
- Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering degree with focus on machine or structural design
- Minimum 2 years of experience in CAD design and drafting (Siemens NX or similar)
- Minimum 2 years of experience with FE analysis (Hypermesh or similar)
- Strong understanding of machine design, manufacturing processes (machining, welding, etc.), design for manufacturing principles, and GD&T
- Familiarity with standard margin calculation methodologies for beams, bolted joints, welds, and similar applications
- Creative problem-solving and technical troubleshooting abilities
- Basic hands-on experience with mechanical assembly and simple machining tools
- Strong documentation skills for technical reports and instructions
- Good English communication skills (German is a plus)
- Experience with test fixture design and mechanical test execution is highly valued
- Previous experience in space industry AIT and MGSE design is appreciated but not required
