Senior Software Developer – Platform & Infrastructure Engineering (all genders)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential cloud infrastructure provider seeking two Senior Software Developers to join a new platform engineering team. You'll be building the business logic foundation for a next-generation product line from the ground up in a greenfield environment.

Your core responsibilities include:

• Designing and implementing authentication systems and infrastructure primitives including virtual servers, storage, and networking components
• Building robust APIs that serve as stable interfaces for infrastructure consumption by both customers and internal teams
• Creating account management, project structures, and feature flag systems that support the broader platform
• Making critical design, code, and infrastructure decisions aligned with product strategy and time-to-market goals
• Participating in on-call rotation and proactively improving system redundancy and reliability
• Enabling other teams to build managed services on top of the primitives you create

What We're Looking For

Our client needs developers who balance speed with quality and can take ownership across both backend and infrastructure domains:

• Production experience with at least one modern backend language: Go, Python, Java, or Rust
• Proven track record designing and building APIs for infrastructure consumption
• Familiarity with IaaS provisioning stacks such as OpenStack components, KubeVirt, QEMU, libvirt, Ceph, or LVM
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes or comparable orchestration platforms in production
• Knowledge of virtualization platforms like KVM or similar technologies
• Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Ansible
• Experience operating large-scale infrastructure environments
• Solution-agnostic mindset that evaluates build-vs-buy decisions pragmatically
• Comfort with on-call responsibilities and production incident response
• Fluent English; German is a plus
• Ideally 10+ years of combined experience in backend and infrastructure engineering

The position is remote within Germany, with options for hybrid or on-site work depending on your location preferences. This is a permanent, full-time role.
