About This Opportunity
Our talent team is representing a confidential sports technology organization seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their elite motorsport division in London. This role focuses on building race management and strategy systems used by top-tier racing teams and organizers worldwide across Formula 1, Formula E, endurance racing, and other premier motorsport series.
You'll lead development of sophisticated real-time race strategy software, working directly with product managers and end users to deliver mission-critical tools that teams rely on during live racing events. This is an opportunity to make a direct impact on competitive outcomes at the highest levels of motorsport.
Responsibilities
- Lead development of race management software for one or more motorsport series
- Collaborate with product managers and customers to design features and prioritize development tasks
- Identify and implement innovative capabilities to enhance race strategy systems
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering team members
- Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable C/C++ codebases
- Ensure code quality, organization, and adherence to best practices throughout development
- Maintain and enhance software reliability for mission-critical race-day applications
- Support live motorsport events on weekends on a rotational basis with the team
- Drive continuous improvement of products and development processes
What We're Looking For
Required qualifications:
- Genuine passion for motorsport and racing
- 5+ years delivering software in fast-paced technical environments
- Proven track record building production applications in C/C++
- Experience developing, scaling, and supporting products through their entire lifecycle
- Strong aptitude for working with complex data and real-time processing
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Customer-focused mindset with willingness to go above and beyond
- Ability to cover live racing events at weekends on rotation
- Capable of multitasking and thriving in dynamic environments with shifting priorities
Preferred qualifications:
- Degree in computer science or related technical discipline
- Prior experience working in the motorsport industry
- Understanding of challenges faced by race officials and teams during events
- Experience with JIRA, Monday, or similar project management platforms
- Windows application development experience using Visual Studio
- Background developing video processing applications
