Engineering Operations Specialist – Consumer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech organization seeking an Engineering Operations Specialist to join their Consumer division in the United Kingdom. Our client is building operational infrastructure that enables engineering teams to move faster by removing friction, improving visibility, and automating repeatable processes.

This role sits at the intersection of process optimization, tooling administration, and stakeholder management. You'll work directly with engineering teams to identify bottlenecks, build automations, and ensure that operational data flows smoothly across the organization. Your work will directly impact how hundreds of engineers plan, track, and deliver their projects.

Responsibilities

• Administer Jira and Confluence environments including configuration, workflows, permissions, schemas, and custom fields
• Own the triage and intake process to ensure work is properly routed to engineering teams and meets quality standards
• Maintain healthy roadmaps and deliver weekly reporting on engineering delivery metrics to leadership
• Build and maintain automations using AI and modern tooling to reduce manual operational work
• Ensure accuracy of engineering metrics data including team definitions, ownership records, and tool configurations
• Document processes clearly and create scalable solutions for recurring operational challenges
• Collaborate with engineering managers and cross-functional teams to identify friction points and implement improvements
• Turn ambiguous requests from senior stakeholders into scoped, actionable work while confidently managing priorities

What We're Looking For

Required:

• 3+ years of experience in operations, process optimization, or tooling roles with at least one major shipped project or initiative
• Hands-on Jira administration experience covering boards, workflows, schemas, permissions, and custom fields
• Demonstrated use of AI tools in day-to-day work with understanding of when and how to apply automation effectively
• Systematic thinking ability to understand how processes and systems interconnect and anticipate downstream impacts
• Strong written communication skills with ability to document processes clearly for technical and non-technical audiences
• Ability to scope work from vague requirements and manage stakeholder expectations confidently
• Genuine interest in operations, internal tooling, and developer experience improvement
• Curiosity and willingness to learn new tools and frameworks as the technical landscape evolves

Nice to Have:

• Familiarity with cryptocurrency products and the fintech space
• Experience building Jira automation rules or similar workflow automation
• SQL knowledge and/or experience with TypeScript and scripting languages
• Experience building Slack workflows or integrations
• Familiarity with APIs for collaboration tools like Slack, Jira, or GitLab
• Exposure to engineering metrics frameworks such as DORA metrics or developer productivity data
• Understanding of localization, QA, or compliance processes in software development
• Experience working effectively in remote or distributed team environments
