About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential aerospace technology organization in their search for a Senior RF Engineer II based in Cambridge, United Kingdom. Our client is at the forefront of advanced communication systems for satellites and space platforms, offering a dynamic, cross-functional environment where innovation meets hands-on engineering.
This role offers the chance to work on cutting-edge RF hardware throughout the entire development lifecycle, from initial concept through in-orbit support. You'll be designing board-level RF electronics for next-generation satellite communication systems in a fast-paced, collaborative setting.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop RF circuits and systems through all phases of the development process, from requirements definition through qualification and operational support
- Create board-level schematic designs and PCB layouts for RF circuits including phased array communication systems
- Work on RF front-ends, frequency converters, synthesizers, filters, beamformers, power dividers, and phased array antennas
- Perform detailed design, analysis, manufacturing support, testing, and qualification of RF hardware
- Develop block diagrams, detailed schematics, PCB layout and routing, simulations, and test designs
- Apply system-level communications concepts including link budgets and modulation schemes
- Present engineering design review materials to customers and executive stakeholders
- Participate in proposal-writing efforts and technical documentation
- Conduct hands-on testing and troubleshooting using laboratory instrumentation
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science (BS) or Master of Science (MS) degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
- 6+ years of industry experience in RF electronics design, analysis, testing, and troubleshooting
- Proficiency with professional simulation tools such as CST and ADS
- Experience with EDA tools such as Altium
- Hands-on experience with lab instruments including vector network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and oscilloscopes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in the United Kingdom (role may be subject to security and export control restrictions based on nationality, dual citizenship, place of birth, and country of residence)
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with MATLAB or other programming languages
- Background in aerospace electronics design, development, and qualification
- Knowledge of worst-case circuit analysis, failure method and criticality analyses, and reliability analysis
- Experience with antenna design
- Knowledge of EMI/EMC design and mitigation techniques
