Senior Legal Counsel – Contracts (German speaker)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential fintech organization seeking a Senior Legal Counsel – Contracts who is fluent in German. In this role, you will act as a trusted legal partner across multiple business functions, managing commercial and operational agreements from initial drafting through execution and post-signature follow-up.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Drafting and negotiating purchase orders and related agreements with partner firms, primarily in Germany and other international markets
• Managing contracts with strategic international suppliers
• Maintaining and improving contract templates in line with regulatory, product, and business developments
• Improving customer terms and conditions for SME customers across France and Europe
• Supporting sales teams with contracting processes and automated quotations
• Reviewing and negotiating agreements with integrators and resellers
• Anticipating the contractual impact of key regulations, including e-invoicing, payment services, and the EU AI Act
• Structuring and improving internal contracting processes to increase efficiency and scalability
• Optimizing contract management tools and identifying opportunities to automate repetitive tasks, including through AI
• Providing clear, pragmatic legal advice to Sales, Partnerships, Finance, Security, and Product teams
• Training non-legal teams and helping build a strong legal culture across the organization

What We're Looking For

Our client needs a qualified lawyer or legal counsel with extensive experience in contract law, gained either in a law firm (particularly in IP/IT, technology, or SaaS) or in a fast-growing tech company.

Required qualifications:

• Fluency in English and German (working knowledge of French is a plus)
• Strong expertise in B2B SaaS agreements, including IP, indemnification, liability caps, SLAs, and data-related provisions
• Autonomous working style with the ability to manage matters from start to finish
• Experience working in a multi-jurisdictional environment, particularly across France and Europe
• Interest in legal operations and technology, with experience structuring processes or optimizing contract management tools
• Ability to function as a genuine business partner, helping teams move quickly while protecting the company
• Rigorous, concise communication style with the ability to make complex legal topics clear to non-legal audiences
• Comfort working in a fast-moving environment where ambiguity, prioritization, and rapid iteration are part of the job
